Backlink intelligence
How to use it
See who links to you and clean up the bad ones:
- Connect Search Console for authoritative own-domain links. (SEO → GSC)
- Review your backlink profile and domain-authority estimates. (SEO → Backlinks)
- Find competitor link gaps as an outreach list. (Backlinks → Competitors)
- Disavow toxic links — review the auto-flags, then export the file. (Backlinks → Toxic → Disavow)

Why this matters for your business
Backlinks are still one of the strongest ranking signals — and one of the few SEO levers a competitor can use against you (toxic-link attacks). You need three things: to know who links to you, to find where competitors get links you don't, and to catch and disavow the spammy links dragging your domain down. Most tools that do this are expensive standalone subscriptions. This engine does it on data sources the platform already has access to.
Where the data comes from
| Source | What it gives you | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Google Search Console | Your own-domain backlinks — authoritative | Free (your GSC) |
| Common Crawl | Competitor link discovery from the public web index | Free |
| Platform crawler | Live verification that a link still exists + link prospecting | Included |
| Domain-authority heuristic | Estimated authority from domain age, link count, TLD quality | Included |
What you can do
See and monitor your profile
Every discovered link lands in a Domains view with its authority estimate, anchor text, and status. Re-syncs keep it current, and the platform flags links that have disappeared (lost links) so you can chase re-placement.
Find competitor link gaps
Point the engine at a competitor domain and it surfaces the sites linking to them via Common Crawl — your prospecting list for outreach. These are links that are demonstrably attainable in your niche.
Catch and disavow toxic links
A link crossing the toxic spam-score threshold is auto-flagged — and the toxic badge, the toxic-count KPI, and the generated disavow file all agree on the same cutoff, so there's no ambiguity about what's counted. You can manually flag or un-flag any link, and those manual decisions are preserved across re-syncs (a re-sync only ever raises confidence, never overwrites your call). The disavow file is Google-format and ready to upload.
Best practices
✅ Connect Search Console first — it's the authoritative source for your own links and makes every other signal richer.
✅ Review auto-flagged toxic links before disavowing. The score is a strong signal, but disavow is a blunt instrument — confirm before submitting.
✅ Work the competitor-gap list as an outreach queue, not a one-time export. Link building is a cadence.
❌ Don't disavow aggressively. Removing good links by mistake hurts more than leaving a few borderline ones. When in doubt, leave it.
