Step 1 · Install from the Shopify App Store

  1. Go to the Sumeru Systems listing on the Shopify App Store.
  2. Click Add app.
  3. Approve the requested scopes (Shopify shows them inline).
  4. You'll be redirected back to the in-app onboarding screen.

You should now see: the welcome screen with a green "Connected to Shopify" indicator.

Step 2 · Watch Customer 360 backfill

The moment OAuth completes, the backfill begins:

Open the Customers tab in the app. You should see profiles populating live — refresh after a minute and the count climbs.

You should now see: at least one Customer 360 profile with order history, lifecycle stage, and event timeline.

Step 3 · Turn on Cart Recovery (one click)

The single highest-leverage action in a fresh install. From the in-app sidebar:

  1. Go to Journeys → Built-in.
  2. Find Cart Recovery.
  3. Click Activate.

Sumeru ships a sane default — 3-step sequence (1h, 6h, 24h after abandonment), email-first with SMS fallback if the customer consented. You can customize later; the default works.

You should now see: a green "Active" pill on the Cart Recovery journey card.

Step 4 · Confirm the journey is live

Within the next abandoned cart, the journey will fire. To verify without waiting:

  1. From any active customer profile, click Test event → cart_abandoned.
  2. Switch to Journeys → Cart Recovery → Runs.
  3. You should see a test run logged, with the first step queued.
