Why this matters for your business
Gift guides are among the highest-converting content a store can publish — around occasions (holidays, Valentine's, Father's Day) shoppers arrive with intent but no specific product in mind. But hand-built guides have two problems: they take hours, and merchants pick products by gut, often featuring items with thin margin or no stock. This tool fixes both. It ranks your catalogue using the revenue, margin, and availability signals the platform already computes, then has the AI write the guide around that curated set — so the guide is fast to produce and biased toward products that make you money and are actually in stock.
How curation works
Products are scored on signals the app already produces:
| Signal | Source | Effect on ranking |
|---|---|---|
| Conversion rate / revenue / views | Product Intelligence (sales engine) | Favors proven converters |
| Margin % / cost of goods | Feed & margin engine | Favors healthy-margin gifts |
| Availability / stock | Feed / inventory | Excludes out-of-stock |
| Budget fit | Price vs. the chosen band | Keeps the guide on-budget |
| Has image / recency | Catalogue | Ensures a presentable, current set |
The scoring degrades gracefully: a brand-new store with no analytics still gets a sensible ranking (budget-fit + recency + has-image), and the ranking sharpens automatically as sales data accrues. The feature works on day one, not only once the funnel has data.
Budget bands
Choose a budget and the curation constrains price accordingly — e.g. "Under $25", "$25–$50", "Luxury ($200+)", or "All budgets". A savings summary is computed where compare-at pricing exists, so the guide can lead with "gifts under $50, up to 30% off."
Publishing — a real, attributable article
The guide publishes through the same proven blog-article path as the Blog engine, which gives you three things:
- A real storefront URL — theme-rendered, indexable, shareable. A gift guide is a content article.
- Idempotent republish — the guide stores its Shopify article id and updates the same article on re-publish, rather than creating duplicates. If the article was deleted in Shopify, it falls back to creating a new one.
- Attribution-ready links — every product link carries
utm_source=gift_guide&utm_medium=content&utm_campaign={guideId}. Because the pixel already captures UTM parameters, revenue per guide becomes a pure read — no storefront changes needed.
SEO built in
On publish, the guide gets:
- SEO metafields (title / description) so it's optimized in search.
- ItemList JSON-LD structured data listing the featured products, making the guide eligible for rich results.
Model-authored HTML (the intro and conclusion) is run through the platform's sanitizer before it's stored, and every dynamic value is HTML-escaped — so a guide is safe to publish straight to your storefront.
Editing & control
- Edit inline — adjust the curated set, rewrite any blurb, change the intro.
- Publish to page — push the guide live as an article, or update the existing one.
- Hero and premium layout options are available on Pro+.
Real merchant scenarios
Scenario A — Holiday guide in 15 minutes
A home-goods store generates a "Holiday gifts under $50" guide. Curation surfaces 12 in-stock, healthy-margin products the store's own data shows convert well. The merchant tweaks two blurbs and publishes. The article ranks for "affordable holiday gifts" and, because every link is UTM-tagged, the store sees exactly $4,200 in attributed revenue from the guide over the season.
Scenario B — Margin-aware curation
A store that used to feature its hero (thin-margin) product in every guide lets curation choose instead. The guide leads with three higher-margin accessories that convert nearly as well — lifting blended margin on guide-driven orders without hurting conversion.
Best practices
✅ Publish occasion guides 3–4 weeks ahead so they have time to index before the shopping window.
✅ Trust the curation, then edit. The ranking already knows your margins and stock — start from it rather than overriding with gut picks.
✅ Keep budget bands tight. "Gifts under $25" converts better than "all budgets" because it matches how gift shoppers actually search.
❌ Don't feature out-of-stock hero products — curation excludes them for a reason; re-adding them manually creates a dead-end for the shopper.
